Insight & Testing
Looking Deeper When You Need More Answers
Sometimes your symptoms, history and standard blood results do not tell the whole story.
If additional investigation is likely to provide meaningful insight, functional testing, nutrigenetic profiling or targeted laboratory testing may help us better understand the patterns influencing your energy, digestion, hormones, metabolism, nervous system resilience and overall wellbeing.
Testing is never routine or required. It is considered only when it is likely to add useful information and help guide your personalised care plan.
When Testing May Be Helpful
Standard pathology is important, especially when screening for disease or monitoring medical conditions. However, when those tests come back as normal, additional testing may be considered when you are experiencing ongoing or complex symptoms such as:
Persistent fatigue or low energy
Digestive symptoms, bloating or altered bowel habits
Hormonal changes or cycle-related symptoms
Sleep disruption or stress sensitivity
Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
Weight changes or metabolic concerns
Symptoms that have not responded as expected
A feeling that something is still being missed
Functional testing may help clarify patterns involving gut health, hormones, energy production, nutrient status, inflammation, immune activity, detoxification and elimination pathways.
Not every client needs testing. In many cases, a detailed health assessment and personalised care plan provide enough clarity to begin making progress.
Common Functional Testing Options
Functional testing is recommended strategically, based on your symptoms, health history, goals and clinical priorities.
The tests listed below are examples commonly used in clinical practice. Many other functional tests are available, depending on your identified needs.
Comprehensive stool and microbiome testing
Organic Acids Testing
Hormone testing
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
Functional blood chemistry analysis using standard pathology markers
Nutrigenetic profiling, such as Fitgenes
Targeted nutrient status testing
Food sensitivity or immune reactivity testing
Environmental or mould-related testing
Each test is selected for a clear clinical reason — not because more testing is better.
How Testing Fits Into Your Care
For new clients, the first step is the Comprehensive Health Assessment. This allows us to understand your health story, identify your priorities and determine whether functional testing is appropriate.
Where testing is recommended, it may be introduced through an Insight Pathway, a Targeted Insight Add-On or Ongoing Care.
An Insight Pathway may be recommended when deeper investigation is likely to be useful from the beginning.
A Targeted Insight Add-On may be recommended when a specific testing question emerges during your care.
If testing may provide meaningful insight, I’ll explain the options, expected costs, timing and how the results may guide your care before anything is arranged.
Testing is completed through the relevant laboratory or provider, with fees paid separately.
The timeframe depends on the type of testing selected and laboratory turnaround times. Once results are available, I interpret them in the context of your symptoms, health history, goals and current care plan.
Results and Insight Consultations are arranged personally through HealthBank once results have been reviewed.
Insight Pathway
When Testing Needs Dedicated Interpretation
Some investigations require more than a standard follow-up consultation.
The Insight Pathway provides dedicated time for clinical review, interpretation and integration of selected test results. This pathway is designed for clients who need more detailed analysis before deciding on the most appropriate next steps.
The focus is on understanding the patterns within your results and translating those insights into clear, practical recommendations.

Targeted Insight Add-Ons
For Existing Clients Already in Care
If you are already working with Harnessing Health through a Care Pathway or Ongoing Care, additional testing can often be added when it is clinically appropriate.
Targeted Insight Add-Ons are available when you would benefit from focused interpretation of one or more additional investigations as part of your existing care.
Some clients begin with nutrition, lifestyle or digestive support while selected tests are arranged in the background. This allows us to start supporting key systems while results are pending, then refine the plan once results are available.
Others may add testing later during Ongoing Care if new symptoms, goals or clinical questions arise.

Nutrigenetic Profiling
Genetic profiling is one of the testing options that may be considered as part of your care.
Unlike functional testing, which can provide insight into what is happening in your body now, genetic profiling helps us understand your inherited tendencies — such as how your body may respond to certain nutrients, foods, stressors or environmental influences.
It may provide useful context for areas such as nutrient metabolism, inflammation, detoxification, methylation, stress resilience and metabolic health.
Genetic profiling is interpreted alongside your symptoms, history and other results. It does not replace clinical assessment, and it is not used in isolation.
Important Note About Testing Costs
Insight and testing service fees cover clinical review, test selection guidance where appropriate, interpretation, consultation time and written summaries where included.
The cost of the test itself is always additional. Functional testing, nutrigenetic profiling, pathology and laboratory fees vary depending on the test selected and will always be discussed with you before testing is arranged.
Testing and Insight services are arranged after we have confirmed the most appropriate option for your situation. They are not self-booked through HealthBank.
Payment is arranged separately by invoice before testing is ordered, instructions are provided or clinical interpretation work begins.
No testing or additional Insight service will proceed without discussion and your confirmation.

Ready to Take the Next Step?
Testing is most useful when it is selected thoughtfully and interpreted in the context of your full health picture.
New clients begin with a Health Story Consultation, the first part of the Comprehensive Health Assessment. This allows us to explore your health history, symptoms and priorities before deciding whether additional investigation may be appropriate.
Existing clients interested in additional testing: Please contact me securely through HealthBank.
When your symptoms don’t quite add up, it’s often because something deeper hasn’t been explored yet.
This is where a more personalised, investigative approach can make all the difference.
