Insight & Testing
Looking Deeper When You Need More Answers
Sometimes your symptoms, history and standard blood results do not tell the whole story.
If additional investigation is likely to provide meaningful insight, functional testing, nutrigenetic profiling or targeted laboratory testing may help us better understand the patterns influencing your energy, digestion, hormones, metabolism, nervous system resilience and overall wellbeing.
Testing is neither routine nor required. It is considered when it is clinically appropriate, likely to add useful information and capable of influencing your recommendations or next steps.
When Testing May Be Helpful
Standard pathology is important, especially when screening for disease or monitoring medical conditions. However, further investigation may sometimes be helpful when standard results appear normal or do not fully explain ongoing symptoms such as:
persistent fatigue or low energy;
digestive symptoms, bloating or altered bowel habits;
hormonal or cycle-related changes;
disrupted sleep or increased stress sensitivity;
brain fog or difficulty concentrating;
difficulty managing weight or other metabolic concerns;
symptoms that have not responded as expected;
a persistent feeling that something is still being missed.
Functional testing may help clarify patterns involving gut health, hormones, energy production, nutrient status, inflammation, immune activity, detoxification and elimination pathways.
Not every client needs testing. In many cases, a detailed health assessment and personalised care plan provide enough clarity to begin making progress.
Common Functional Testing Options
Functional testing is recommended strategically, based on your symptoms, health history, goals and clinical priorities.
The tests listed below are examples commonly used in clinical practice. Many other functional tests are available, depending on your identified needs.
Comprehensive stool and microbiome testing
Organic Acids Testing
Hormone testing
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
Functional blood chemistry analysis using standard pathology markers
Nutrigenetic profiling, such as Fitgenes
Targeted nutrient status testing
Food sensitivity or immune reactivity testing
Environmental or mould-related testing
Each test is selected for a clear clinical reason — not because more testing is better.
How Testing Fits Into Your Care
Begin With Your Comprehensive Health Assessment
Before testing is arranged, new clients begin with a Health Story Consultation, the first part of the Comprehensive Health Assessment. This gives us time to explore your current concerns, health history, symptoms, lifestyle, medications and supplements, relevant recent results, and your goals and priorities for care.
After reviewing and integrating this information, we meet again for your Personalised Health Strategy Consultation. This is where we discuss the key patterns and priorities identified, your initial recommendations and whether functional testing is likely to provide useful additional insight.
Testing is recommended where it is clinically appropriate and likely to influence your care or next steps.
Your Testing Options
Once both parts of the Comprehensive Health Assessment have been completed, testing may be introduced through an Insight Pathway or a Targeted Insight Add-On.
Insight Pathway
An Insight Pathway may be recommended when you need a self-contained testing and interpretation service, including dedicated clinical analysis, a results consultation and a personalised written summary.
Targeted Insight Add-On
A Targeted Insight Add-On may be recommended when one or two specific testing questions arise within an already established health picture.
It may be added:
after completion of the Comprehensive Health Assessment;
during a Care Pathway; or
while receiving support through Continuing Care Consultations.
Each Add-On includes its own dedicated results consultation. This allows Care Pathway and Continuing Care Consultation appointments to remain focused on implementation, accountability, progress and refinement.
Before anything is arranged, I will explain the recommended option, expected costs, timing and how the results may influence your care.
Laboratory and provider fees are paid separately. Turnaround times vary according to the test and laboratory selected.
Once your results are available, I review and interpret them in the context of your symptoms, health history, priorities and existing strategy. Your Results and Insight Consultation is then arranged personally through HealthBank.
Insight Pathway
When Testing Needs Dedicated Interpretation
Some investigations require more preparation, clinical review and interpretation than can reasonably be provided within a standard follow-up consultation.
The Insight Pathway provides dedicated time to review and integrate selected test results and translate the findings into clear, personalised recommendations.
It is designed as a self-contained testing and interpretation service for clients who need more detailed investigation after completing their Comprehensive Health Assessment.

Targeted Insight Add-Ons
Focused Testing Within an Established Health Strategy
Targeted Insight Add-Ons are available after completion of both parts of the Comprehensive Health Assessment.
They may be suitable when one or two specific testing questions arise after your assessment or during continued support through a Care Pathway or Continuing Care Consultations.
Because your broader health history, clinical context and priorities have already been established, the results can be interpreted within your existing health strategy.
Each Add-On includes a dedicated Results and Insight Consultation, allowing your current Care Pathway appointments or Continuing Care Consultations to remain focused on implementation, accountability, progress and refinement.
A separate comprehensive written Insight Summary is not included. Where a self-contained testing and interpretation service with a written summary would be a better fit, an Insight Pathway may be recommended instead.

Nutrigenetic Profiling
Genetic profiling is one of the testing options that may be considered after completion of your Comprehensive Health Assessment.
Unlike functional testing, which may provide insight into what is happening in your body now, genetic profiling explores inherited tendencies that may influence how you respond to certain nutrients, foods, stressors and environmental factors.
It may provide useful context in areas such as:
nutrient metabolism;
inflammation;
methylation;
detoxification;
stress resilience;
cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Genetic results are interpreted alongside your symptoms, health history, lifestyle and other relevant findings. They do not provide a diagnosis, replace clinical assessment or determine your health outcomes in isolation.
Important Note About Testing Costs
Insight & Testing service fees cover the clinical services listed for your chosen option. These may include test-selection guidance, preparation, clinical review, interpretation, consultation time and a written summary where specified.
The cost of the test itself is additional. Functional testing, nutrigenetic profiling, pathology and laboratory fees vary according to the investigation selected and will always be discussed with you before testing is arranged.
Insight Pathways and Targeted Insight Add-Ons are available only after both parts of the Comprehensive Health Assessment have been completed.
Insight & Testing services are arranged personally after the preferred option has been discussed and confirmed. They are not self-booked through HealthBank.
Payment is arranged separately by invoice before testing is ordered, instructions are issued or clinical interpretation begins.
No testing or additional Insight service will proceed without prior discussion and your confirmation.

Whether they can be interpreted within your Comprehensive Health Assessment, require an Insight Pathway or are suitable for a Targeted Insight Add-On will depend on the type, complexity and clinical relevance of the results.
Complex results or multiple tests may require an Insight Pathway or Targeted Insight Add-On to allow enough time for careful interpretation and integration.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Testing is most useful when it is selected thoughtfully and interpreted in the context of your full health picture.
New clients begin with a Health Story Consultation, the first part of the Comprehensive Health Assessment. This allows us to explore your health history, symptoms and priorities before deciding whether additional investigation is likely to add useful insight.
The separate Personalised Health Strategy Consultation completes your assessment and is where we discuss your initial recommendations, suitable next steps and whether testing is likely to provide meaningful additional insight.
Already completed both parts of your Comprehensive Health Assessment?
Please contact me securely through HealthBank to discuss whether an Insight Pathway or Targeted Insight Add-On may be the best fit.
When your symptoms don’t quite add up, it’s often because something deeper hasn’t been explored yet.
This is where a more personalised, investigative approach can make all the difference.
